The drop-point blade is strong and versatile. It is full bellied and has a thick point for heavy cutting jobs. The drop shape from the top of the blade to the tip minimizes accidental punctures. When opened fully, the 2.75-inch blade on the 501locks safely into position with a lock back design. When closed, the knife is 3.75-inches long.

The blade of the501 Knife is made of Buck’s standard 420HC stainless steel, as this material has both exceptional corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Buck’s exclusive Paul Bos heat-treating and testing process maximizes both of these advantages, and makes the blade easy to resharpenwhen needed. It is hardened to a Rockwell Hardness of RC58 through a rigorous heating, freezing and reheating process.

When the blade is fully opened, it locks securely into place. The lock is released by pushing down on the rocker visible on the top of the knife and folding the blade closed.
